Hampton Men’s Basketball Set to Face North Carolina A&T on CBS Sports Network

HAMPTON Va. (Jan. 19, 2025) … Hampton University men's basketball team is back on the road facing the Aggies of North Carolina A&T. Monday night's contest will be on the CBS Sports Network. This will be the Pirate's third nationally televised game of the 2024-25 season. 

Series History

Hampton won the most recent meeting against North Carolina A&T 82-71. The win marked the first time since the 2021-22 season that the Pirates had won a conference opener. Three of the last four contests between the two sides have been decided by one point. Hampton has not won at the Corbett Sports Center since the 2015-16 campaign. 

ABOUT HAMPTON

The Pirates in its last time out fell to William & Mary 67-64 inside the Convocation Center. While the Tribe shot 40 percent from beyond the arc, Hampton held William & Mary to only eight made threes. Noah Farrakhan led Coach Ivan Thomas's side in scoring with 15 points while going 4-for-8 from the field. Trevor Smith and George Beale Jr. also finished the contest in double figures. 

Throughout the season Hampton has received production from its bench. The Pirates are averaging 38.6 points per game which is second in the nation and first in the Coastal Athletic Association. Coach Ivan Thomas's side has had the advantage on the offensive glass as well. On average, Hampton is grabbing 13.8 offensive rebounds per game ranking the Pirates 20th in the country and second in the conference. 

ABOUT NORTH CAROLINA A&T

Since the last time the two sides have faced off the Aggies picked up a win over North Carolina Central. Similarly to Hampton, North Carolina A&T challenged CAA front-runner William & Mary. The Tribe would make a halfcourt buzzer-beater to defeat the Aggies. North Carolina A&T is coached by Monte Ross who is in his second season with the program. 

Ryan Forrest and Landon Glasper have been crucial for Coach Ross's side. Forrest and Glasper both have scored over 320 points this season. Forrest leads the Aggies with 343 points which is third in the conference and 47th in the country. Glasper has proven to be a threat from beyond the arc. The Fayetteville, Ark. native, has made 59 threes which is 12th most at the Division I level.
