Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. (Nov. 18, 2025) … Hampton fell in a defensive dual Tuesday night to Boston College 63-52 inside Conte Forum. The Pirates held the Eagles to just 39.3 percent from the field, but ultimately fell short, shooting just 35.0 percent.

Xzavier Long got the Pirates off to a strong start once again Tuesday night, scoring four of the Pirates first six points. Boston College quickly went on a run out of the first media timeout, rattling off a 9-3 spurt to take a 18-9 lead at the 12:20 mark. The Eagles defense continued to give Hampton fits early on holding Hampton to just 11 points through the first 12 minutes on 5-14 shooting.

Freshman Quintin Cooper was a bright spot offensively for Hampton in the latter half of the first period, draining two pull-up jumpers to spark the Pirates. After trailing by as many as 16, back to back driving layups from Long, and Etienne Strothers brought the game to single digits at 30-21 with 1:54 remaining in the first frame. The Eagles then closed the half with a three-pointer at the buzzer to take a 37-26 lead into the break.

Long paced Hampton's offense with six first half points, while seven Pirates scored in the frame. Hampton shot 47.8 percent from the floor in the first half, but the difference was the Eagles forcing the Pirates into 11 first half turnovers that led to eight Eagles points.

Out of the break the two sides traded baskets early with Boston College holding onto a 13 point lead at 43-30 going into the first media timeout of the half. The Pirates began the second half ice cold from the floor, shooting just 12.5 percent from the field over the course of the first 10 minutes to allow the Eagles to extend their lead to 16 at 48-32.

Boston College's defense kept Hampton at bay in the second half, though the Pirates did close the game on a 16-5 run over the last 6:44 as an Elijah Kennedy triple produced the final of 63-52. Hampton shot 35.0 percent from the floor on the night and made connected on just 4 of 23 three point attempts. The Pirates out rebounded the Eagles on the night 39-38, and held Boston College to just 18.5 percent from downtown.
