MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (Aug. 30, 2025) … The Hampton University women's cross country team began their 2025 season on Saturday morning with a 10^th place finish at the Richmond Spider Alumni Open at Pole Green Park.

Freshman Shari Brown was the top runner for the Pirates coming in 43^rd place as she covered the 4k course in 14:49.8. Fellow freshman Avah Savage was 78^th in 15:28.1, while Kylee King was 93^rd in 15:44.8.

Virginia won the meet with 18 points, followed by William & Mary (59) and Richmond (88).

Hampton hits the course again on September 6 at the Lancer Open in Farmville.
