HAMPTON, Va. (Feb. 20, 2026) … The Hampton University lacrosse team returns to action Saturday when they play host to in-state foe VMI at 5:00 p.m.
Hampton dropped their third game of the season to Detroit Mercy 20-8 after leading 4-3 through the first quarter.
LAST MEETING
VMI won the latest matchup last season 28-4, and leads the all-time series 9-0 over the Pirates.
ABOUT HAMPTON
Maliik Wood (7) and Darius Stanley (6) lead the Pirates through the first three games, combining for 13 of the teams 25 goals. Freshman Anthony Bardonille Jr. has added five goals of his own, while also dishing out a team high four assists.
In the net, Hampton is led by Miles Lancaster's 52 saves on the season, where he currently holds a .486 save percentage, while starting all three games. Edward Johnson has also saved 12 shots in his lone apperance on the season.
The Pirates haves scored eight goals or more in three straight games for the first time since the 2023 season.
ABOUT VMI
Dayton Bagwell leads the Keydets with 14 goals on the season after netting 41 a season ago. He currently holds a .682 shots on goal percentage.
Adam Norris returns to the net for VMI, posting 37 saves through three games. He has registered 413 total saves on a .501 save percentage in his career.
Last season, VMI posted a 10-4 record.
HATS TRICKS ALL-AROUND
Hampton has seen three different players record a hat trick in each of their three games. Anthony Bardonille Jr. recorded the first of the season at Mercer, followed by Darius Stanley at NJIT, and Maliik Wood against Detroit Mercy.
MARCH MADNESS
The Pirates will play four games in the month of March, all coming on the road, tallying 2,033 total miles. The month will start with a trip to Mercyhurst followed by Fairfield, Queens, and Monmouth.
