Men's Indoor Track and Field Finishes Fourth In CAA Championships

Best finish in CAA history for men

BOSTON, Mass. (Feb. 22, 2026) … The Hampton University men's indoor track and field team finished fourth on Sunday in the CAA Championships at the TRACK at New Balance.

Hampton totaled 98 points to trail N.C. A&T (175.5), Northeastern (121) and William & Mary (120). The fourth place finish was the highest for Hampton in the CAA Championships.

The Pirates came out with a meet record in the 4x400 relay with the quartet of Justin Anderson, Ethan Moody, Jason Woods and Jayden Poteat winning in 3:08.75.

Also winning an event was Marquis White in a meet record long jump of 7.57m (24-10).

Hampton pulled 17 points in the triple jump with Ellis Branch in second (15.15m/49-8.5), Joseph Ernest in fourth (15.06m/49-5) and Marquis White in sixth (14.68m/48-2).

In the 400 meters, Hampton scored 11 points behind Poteat's third place finish in 47.21, Moody's fifth place in 48.04 and Woods' eighth place in 48.76.

Hampton earned eight in the pole vault as Floyd Tucker was second in 4.81m (15-9.25).

In the 800 meters, Xaiver Jemison was fourth (1:51.99) and Mickael Rodriguez-King was seventh in 1:53.05 to total seven points.

Yashahya Brown gave Hampton six points in the 60 hurdles taking third in 7.84, while Khari Barnes was fourth in the 60 meters (6.76) and Poteat was fifth in the 200 meters (21.07).

In the high jump Prince Osagie-Erese was fifth in 2.02m (6-7.5) and Daven Gibson was sixth in the same height.

Daye Karibi-Whyte took a pair of top six finishes in the weight events with a 16.33m toss in the weight throw (53-7) for fifth and a sixth place in the shot put with a toss of 14.86m (48-9).

The 4x800 relay garnered five points with a fourth place finish from Michael Rodriguez-King, Xavier Jemison, Dominic Bassey, Mohammed Al-YaFee in 7:38.54.
