HAMPTON, Va. (May 3, 2026) … With exam week ending this weekend, a small group that had finished exams of Hampton University track and field athletes ran in a couple of meets in Florida and North Carolina.
A men's 4x400 relay group headed to the East Coast Relays at North Florida on Saturday and finished fifth in 3:09.87.

Dominic Bassey and Jason Poteat took fifth in the race trailing four SEC schools in South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and Auburn.
At the Duke Twilight on Sunday, the throwers took center stage as
Rochele Solmon took seventh in the women's discus with a toss of 46.54m (152-8) and 10
th in the shot put with a throw of 14.28m (46-10.25).
Hampton also had a pair of fourth place finishes as
Jaida Graham took fourth in the women's hammer throw with a personal best of 57.07m (187-3) and
Delano Lawrence was fourth in the men's discus with a school record toss of 54.83m (179-10). This is the third time this year he's broken the school record in the discus.
Carmen PenaSoto was the lone track participant at Duke and she took 13
th in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:00.42.
The Pirates are now off until Wednesday when they'll run in the Liberty Twilight in Lynchburg.
