Hampton University sophomore rightside Vendula Strakova was named HU Athlete of the Week following her outstanding performance on the volleyball court this past weekend.

Strakova (Brno, Czech Republic) averaged 24.5 kills per match over a pair of wins this past weekend – including a career-high 31 kills in Sunday’s four-set win over Maryland Eastern Shore. Those 31 kills were a program record for a four-set match.

She hit a career-best .510 against UMES, and Strakova also had 18 kills and 11 digs on Friday against Delaware State, recording her eighth double-double of the season. She hit .455 against the Lady Hornets.

Strakova hit .488 for the weekend.
