Hampton University senior forward Keiara Avant was named HU Athlete of the Week after her outstanding performance on the hardwood this past week.

Avant (Chesapeake, Va.) was huge in three Lady Pirate wins this past week, recording double-doubles in all of them. After scoring 19 points and grabbing 16 rebounds at Mississippi State last Monday, Avant added 19 points and 10 rebounds on Friday against LSU – then poured in 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on Sunday against Chicago State.

She also had a career-high seven steals against Chicago State. So far this season, Avant is averaging 22.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game as the Lady Pirates opened the season 4-0.
