Hampton University junior guard Ramon Mercado was named HU Athlete of the Week following his performance on the hardwood this past week.

Mercado (Hollywood, Fla.) led the Pirates with 10 points off the bench in Sunday’s 50-43 loss at Winthrop, including a career-high tying three 3-pointers. It was the second time this season Mercado reached double figures in scoring.

He also tied for the team high with three assists against the Eagles.
