HAMPTON, Va. -- After a successful 2009-10 season, head coach David Six and his coaching staff have four newcomers coming in next season to help them repeat as MEAC champions.

“These recruits will add size, depth, athleticism and maturity to our team next year,“ Six said.

Chikilra Goodman is a 5-foot-9 guard from Bodine High located in Philadelphia, Pa. The nation's leader scorer averaged 36.6 points, 17.0 rebounds, 6.3 steals and 4.6 assists a game this past season. Tondalaya “Toni” Goodman, Chikilra's mother, played for the Lady Pirates from 1978-82. She is the school's all-time leading rebounder (1,608) and sits 11^th all-time in scoring (1,253).

“I went down there and fell in love with the school,” Goodman told the Philadelphia Tribute.

Goodman scored a career total 2,049 points in high school, and she had a career-high 55 points against Swenson Arts & Tech this season.

Six wanted some bigger players in the post, and he has one in Sherena Abercrumbia. This 6-foot-3 post player is coming from Lon Morris College located in Jacksonville, Texas and will definitely make a big impact in the post for the Lady Pirates. “She's huge, but she's pretty light on her feet,” said Six. “Plus she's got a very, very high basketball IQ.”

Abercrumbia's teammate Christy Willis also signed with the Lady Pirates. This 5-foot-9 speedster will mostly like run point next season for Six. “She's quick and sees the floor well,“ Six said. “Kind of puts you in the mind of a Jason Kidd.”

Even though she runs the point, Willis can score when needed – she had 33 points in a game this past season for the Lady Bearcats.

Breanna Harris is a 5-foot-11 forward from Mansfield Summit High School located in Mansfield, Texas. Harris averaged nearly 10 points and eight rebounds a game this past season.

“She plays with a lot of energy, and she's as strong as an ox,” Six said.
