BALTIMORE, Md. – The Hampton University women's track & field team finished fifth in the team standings of the Morgan State Legacy Meet on Friday and Saturday at Hughes Stadium on the campus of Morgan State University.
The Lady Pirates finished with 72 points, three points behind fourth-place Maryland Eastern Shore. Pittsburgh won the team title with 124.5 points.
The Pirates did not compete this past weekend.
Junior
Benita Taylor (Philadelphia, Pa.) turned in the best individual performance of the weekend, running a personal- and team season-best 2:11.25 to finish second in the 800-meter run.
She also anchored the 4x400-meter relay team – along with senior
Racquel Vassell (Irvington, N.J.), freshman
Breana Norman (Virginia Beach, Va.) and freshman
Emmy Fraenk (Hampton, Va.) – that took home the silver with a 3:45.09.
Vassell also ran a 14.33 in the 100-meter hurdles to finish third, while also coming in fifth in the200-meter dash with a 24.80. Norman ran a 12.05 to come in fifth in the 100-meter dash, while her 24.85 in the 200-meter dash was good enough for sixth.
Norman came in fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.40.
Fraenk finished fourth in the 400-meter run after running a 56.37, while senior
Jocelyn Watkins (Ellenwood, Ga.) came in fourth in the discus with a distance of 38.82 meters.
Vassell, Norman, Fraenk and freshman
Teiara Denmark (Virginia Beach, Va.) teamed up to run a 48.14 in the 4x100-meter relay, finishing fourth.
Senior
Margaret Harris (South Bend, Ind.) ran a 1:04.43 in the 400-meter hurdles to come in fifth.
