HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton University senior guard
Jericka Jenkins was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Junior forward
Ariel Phelps (Virginia Beach, Va.) shared Defensive Player of the Week honors with Florida A&M's Antonia Bennett. This is Phelps' second Defensive Player of the Week honor so far this season.
Jenkins (Lancaster, Texas) averaged a double-double of 14.0 points and 14.5 assists to aid the Lady Pirates to a 2-0 mark last week. Jenkins scored 16 points to go along with 12 assists, five rebounds and four steals in a road win over Morgan State.
She followed that performance with 12 points and a career-high-tying 17 assists in Saturday's 92-43 win over Norfolk State.
This is Jenkins' second MEAC Player of the Week honor, and the sixth overall for the Lady Pirates so far this season. Senior guard

Alyssa Bennett (Hampton, Va.) and sophomore guard
Nicole Hamilton (Hampton, Va.) have also earned the honor this season.
Phelps grabbed 16 rebounds, recorded five blocks and two steals in wins over Morgan State and Norfolk State. Phelps added 15 points in the offensive effort.
Tiffanie Adair of North Carolina A&T was named MEAC Rookie of the Week.
