What made you decide to come to Hampton?

My whole family attended HBCUs, and I had a good relationship with (former Pirates defensive coordinator Keith) Goganious. I just felt like Hampton was a good fit for me.

Describe your experience of being a student-athlete at Hampton.

It's been eye-opening; it taught me that things aren't just given to you – not in life, not in the classroom, not on the football field. Everywhere in life, you have to earn what you get.

What's the biggest change you've seen in yourself between when you first got to Hampton and now?

I'm a lot more serious about life and about football, and I'm a lot more mature.

What are some of your hobbies? What do you enjoy outside of the competitive arena and the classroom?

I like hanging out with friends and family, I enjoy going to the movies. I play the drums and I like to play chess.

What's your favorite food?

Chicken alfredo.

Among the teammates you've had over the years, who's been your best friend?

(Senior defensive end) Matt Davis and (junior wide receiver/return man) Jorrian Washington.

You've interacted with a lot of different staff members over the years in athletics; who has been there for you the most (not a coach)?

Mrs. Winston … and all of the trainers (past and present). With all of the injuries I've had – broken fingers, messed-up hands, my meniscus … the trainers here have been a godsend.

What's your major, and how did you come to choose that?

Business management, because I've always wanted to get into the business side of sports, and I think, after I graduate, I'll pursue grad school as an option.

Is there anything you haven't accomplished yet at Hampton that you hope to accomplish this year?

I want to win the MEAC, and I want to beat (former Pirate and current Dallas Cowboy) Justin Durant's tackle mark (Durant had 339 tackles while at Hampton).

What are your plans after graduating?

Grad school, and I want to play professional football – whether that's in the NFL, the CFL, Arena League, wherever.

Any parting words for your teammates or anyone who may be coming to Hampton in the future?

Keep the program moving forward; I know the record may not show it, but the program has made a lot of strides since my freshman year, and I want to see that continue.
