BALTIMORE, Md. – The Hampton University men's & women's tennis teams defeated the Coppin State Eagles 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Baltimore, Maryland.
The Lady Pirates opened up In doubles action, Scott and Butler defeated Milo and Taylor 8-1 in the No. 1 spot. The No.3 position was defaulted by Coppin due to a short-handed lineup.
In singles action, Sophomore
Melanie Scott (Gardena, CA) won her match against Katherine Chisolm 7-6, 6-0 at No.1 position, while Senior
Tabita Daolio (Centro Campinas, Brazil) defeated Ashley Milo 6-2 6-1 in theNo. 2 position.
The Lady Pirates closed out their match with a win by Junior
Danielle Butler (Hawthorne, CA) over Miranda Taylor 6-2 6-0 in the No.3 position.
On the men's side, the Pirates won at the number one and two doubles positions. Park and Kirtane defeated Krylchuk and Nino 8-3, while McQueen and
Fludd (Suitland, MD) defeated Thomas and Peyton 8-6.
In singles,
Park Wan-Young (Daeduk-Gu, Daejeon) defeated Daniel Nino 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Advait Kirtane (Toronto, Ontario) took care of Roderick Peyton 6-2, 6-0. Freshman
Joshua McQueen (Miramar, Fl) closed out the competition for the Pirates defeating Reginald Robinson in a tough 3 sets, winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
