HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University Women's tennis team fell to Delaware State 4-0 this past Sunday at the Neilson-Screen Tennis Stadium.
The match opened up with doubles competition. At No.1 doubles Maja Banas and Marina Sicic dropped
Danielle Butler (Hawthorne, CA) and
Melanie Scott (Gardena, CA) 8-0, while Vanja Andonova and Brittany Marshall defeated
Tabita Daolio (Centro Campinas, Brazil) and
Daneya Charles (Kingstown, St. Vincent) 8-0 at the No.2 position.
Due to a short-handed lineup, Hampton defaulted its No.3 position doubles as well as forfeited its No.4 position singles.
In singles action,
Danielle Butler fell to Ksenia Kozlova 6-1 6-0 at the No.3 position and Brttany Marshall defeated
Fionna Davis (Suffolk, VA) at the No.6 position.
