Greensboro, NC. – The Hampton University bowling team competed in the Aggies Master Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T University on Saturday and Sunday.
The Lady Pirates went 2-8 on the weekend, which included a 2-3 mark in Saturday's match play and 0-5 in baker action.
On Saturday, the Lady Pirates opened match play with a 711-867 loss to NC Central and a 677-1014 loss to NCA&T and a 615-827 loss to Alabama Birmingham. From there, Hampton went on to beat Shaw 689-649 and beat Fayetteville State 732-728.
Laina Rivers (Bloomfield, CT) led the Lady Pirates with 733 total pins on Saturday, averaging 146.6 pins per match. She bowled a 154 against NC Central, a 152 against NCA&T, and 148 against UAB.
Evann Smith (Indianapolis, IN) bowled her season best 181 against Shaw University; while
Tiauna Mathieu (Jamaica, NY) bowled her season best 173 against Fayetteville State. Newcomer to the lady pirates Ciara Pitt rolled a 162 as well against Fayetteville State.
The Lady Pirates will return to action on March 1-2, when they head to Baltimore, Md. for the third and final MEAC North meet of this season.
