TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – With a 78-63 win over Florida A&M at the Al Lawson Center Monday night, the Hampton University men's basketball team remained undefeated in MEAC play.
The Pirates (8-8, 4-0 MEAC) also picked up their second straight win.
Guard
Quinton Chievous (Chicago, Ill.) led three Pirates in double figures with 18 points, going 7-for-11 from the floor and dishing out three assists. Redshirt junior guard/forward
Dwight Meikle (Baltimore, Md.) added 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Reginald Johnson (Chicago, Ill.) came off the bench to add 15 points.
The Pirates shot 49.1 percent (26-for-53) from the floor and made six of their 18 3-pointers (33.3 percent). Hampton also held a 38-33 advantage on the glass and turned 20 Rattler turnovers into 32 points.
After the Rattlers scored the first two points of the game, the Pirates went on a 9-2 run, taking a 9-4 lead at the 16:50 mark of the first half following a jumper from Meikle. A 3-point play from Chievous in transition at the 15:33 mark gave the Pirates a 14-6 lead.
The Rattlers cut the lead to 14-8, before the Pirates scored the next eight points to take a 22-8 lead after Johnson hit a pair of free throws at the 10:25 mark.

Deron Powers (Williamsburg, Va.) with 3:50 left in the first half gave the Pirates a 35-21 lead, and Hampton's largest lead of the half came at the 1:11 mark, when Johnson hit a 3-pointer to give the Pirates a 42-26 lead.
Hampton led 42-28 at the break.
Johnson hit two free throws with 15:18 left in the second half, giving the Pirates a 54-34 lead. Craig Bowman hit a pair of free throws at the 13:04 mark to cut the lead to 61-43, but the Pirates kept control throughout, leading 71-47 with 7:49 remaining after senior center
Emmanuel Okoroba (Garland, Texas) hit two free throws.
Hampton led by as many as 24 on two more occasions – the final one coming with 3:37 left to play after a tip-in from junior forward
Dionte Adams (Charlotte, N.C.) gave the Pirates a 78-54 lead.
FAMU (0-16, 0-3 MEAC) shot 34.0 percent (17-for-50) from the floor and made just four of 13 3-pointers (30.8 percent).
Rosa led the Rattlers with 16 points.
