FLORENCE, S.C. – The Hampton University women's soccer team played its final match of its inaugural season on Sunday morning at Hartzler Field, falling 14-0 to Francis Marion in the third-place match of the Div. I Independents Tournament.
The Lady Pirates finished the season 0-10-0.
Courtney James and
LaTrice Montgomery were each named to the All-Tournament Team.
Arianna Pierner led the Patriots with four goals, while Shauna Griffin also had a hat trick. Eight different Francis Marion players scored at least one goal.
Francis Marion led 5-0 at the half.
James played in goal in the first half, making nine saves.
Michelle Jones was the goalkeeper in the second half, making four saves.
Francis Marion (4-15-0) outshot Hampton 49-6 – 27-2 in shots on goal. The Patriots also held a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.
