PRINCESS ANNE, MD. – The Hampton University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Northern Division matchup to the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks 25-19, 25-8, 25-12 on Sunday afternoon.
The first set saw the teams battle through nine ties as Hampton never trailed through the first 14 points of the set.  The Lady Pirates held a two-point lead as late as 13-11 off a bad set from a
Summer Humes serve. A Hawk attack error put Hampton up 16-15 before the hosts scored nine of the last 12 points in the set to take a 25-19 win.
The last two sets saw the hosts soar out to large leads early and never relinquished them. Set two sw Hampton trail 8-1 early and in the third they trailed 11-3.
Reeana Richardson had seven kills and five digs to lead Hampton, while
Lena Washington had five and four digs and
Micah Leavell had four kills and three digs.
Hampton will be home this week to conclude its home schedule when they host Morgan State at 6 pm.
