HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University women's soccer team will head west on Tuesday to tangle with the Keydets of Virginia Military Institute in Lexington. Kickoff will be at 4 pm at Patchin Field.
Hampton (0-0-1) enters the game after a 2-2 tie on Saturday at Saint Peter's University. Kiley Barnes and Courtney James each found the back of the net for the Lady Pirates in the first half. VMI (1-0-0) plays its home opener after defeating South Carolina State 1-0 on Friday behind a goal from Lizzy Cotter in the 19th minute.
These teams played once last season at VMI on August 25 with the hosts taking a 16-0 win. Hampton also participated in the VMI Tournament last year losing to Francis Marion and Presbyterian.
In the first NCAA Women's Soccer statistics released on Monday, Hampton is tied with Delaware State for first in fewest fouls per game after the opening weekend with two.
