CROSS COUNTRY TAKES THIRD IN W&M INVITATIONAL

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Hampton Lady Pirates cross country team opened competition on Friday night participating in the 58th annual William & Mary Cross Country Invitational held at Eastern State Hospital.

In the University Division, Hampton was third with 85 points.  Host William & Mary was first with 25 points, while Charlotte was second with 30 and Howard was fourth with 110 points.

Leading Hampton on the night was Pollyanna Velasco who covered the 5k course in 20:12.4 to finish in 26th.  Freshman Asia Johnson was one spot behind her at 20:13.2 in 27th.  Another freshman came in 30th  as Alycia Higgins ran 20:25.1 with Amanda Delacruz coming in 31st  at 20:50.4.  Rounding out the five counting times for Hampton was junior Kayla Key who was 34th  in 21:01.8.

The Lady Pirates return to action on September 24 participating in the Delaware State Farm Run Invite in Dover, Delaware.
