DOVER, De. – The Hampton University volleyball team extended their winning streak to six games on Friday night with a thrilling five-set win over Delaware State 25-18, 16-25, 25-12, 23-25, 15-12 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Northern Division matchup.

Hampton jumped out to a quick start with a blistering .591 attack percentage in the first set to win 25-18.  After falling in the second 16-25, the Lady Pirates took a 2-1 set lead winning the third committing only one error in 18 attempts for an incredibly .722 attack percentage winning 25-12.

The Hornets bounced back to sting Hampton 25-23 in the fourth set and held an 11-9 lead in the fifth and deciding set before Hampton scored six of the last seven points.  A Ravyn Richardson service ace iced the win for Hampton.

Kyndall Nicholas topped four in double figures with 15 kills and an attack percentage of .542.  Lena Washington added 12 kills and was right behind Nicholas with an attack percentage of .526.  Reeana Richardson joined the double figure club with 12 kills, while Ravyn had 11 and eight digs.  Washington topped the team in digs with nine, while Lena Reed-Petracek and Mallory Beard had 29 and 22 assists respectively.

Hampton (8-11, 3-0) heads to Princess Anne, Md. for a key MEAC Northern Division matchup with Maryland Eastern Shore (15-6, 2-0) at 6 pm Saturday night.
