STOCKTON, Ca. -- The Hampton Lady Pirates fell on Friday afternoon to Brown University 73-66 in the opening round of the Tiger Turkey Tipoff hosted by the University of the Pacific on Friday.
Hampton (1-3) will now face the loser of San Jose State and host Pacific on Saturday. If they play San Jose State it'll be at 4pm EST and against Pacific it'll be 7:30 pm EST.
After holding a 15-14 lead after one, the second quarter doomed Hampton's chances as Brown outscored them 21-10.  Hampton trimmed the deficit to one on a free throw by Allina Starr with 7:27 left in the game at 54-53, but that was as close as they could get.
Starr was the leading scorer for Hampton with 23 points and nine rebounds, while
K'lynn Willis had a season-high 14 points.Â
Monnazjea Finney-Smith had a season-high 14 rebounds to lead Hampton, while sophomore
Ashley Bates just missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
