DAYTONA BEACH, Fl. – The Hampton University men's tennis team dropped a tightly-contested matchup with Bethune-Cookman on Thursday 4-3 in Daytona Beach.
The host Wildcats took two of the three doubles matches to earn the team point. Hampton won at the top spot as
Juan Araoz and
Matthew Foster-Estwick scored a 7-6 (7-2) win over Greg Almeida and Pablo Lopez.
In singles, the Pirates took wins at the top two spots and at number four singles. Araoz won at number one by a 6-0, 6-0 over David Ocampa. Foster-Estwick won at number two singles 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 over Almeida and
Charles Hudson won at number four 6-4, 6-0 over Lopez.
Hampton (2-2) will return to action on March 20 when they face Hofstra in the home opener at 1 pm.
