GREENVILLE, NC – In a women's tennis battle of Pirates on Tuesday afternoon, the homestanding East Carolina Pirates topped the Hampton Lady Pirates 7-0.
The ECU Pirates took two doubles matches to clinch that team point. In singles,
Mariam Mitaishvili took her match with Annija Veinsteina at line #2 into a third set before falling 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8). ECU took the rest of the matches in straight sets.
Hampton (10-4) will now refocus for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament starting April 20 at Old Dominion University. Winning the MEAC Northern Division on Monday clinched them an 8:30 am match on April 20 against whomever is the #4-seed out of the Southern Division. Pairings will be known early next week.
