HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton University track program qualified five participants for the NCAA East Regional championships held at the University of Kentucky starting on Thursday.
Three men and two women will run in the qualifying meet for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships which will be held June 7-10 in Eugene, Oregon.
For the women,
Faith Keitany and
Janet Okeago will participate in the 10,000-meters on Thursday night at 9:00 pm. Keitany ran her qualifying time at the ECAC Championships on May 12 with a 34:52.91, while Okeago ran her qualifying time of 34:55.22 on Mar. 30 at the Colonial Relays.
On the men's side,
Jaelen Williams and
Stanley Davis will run in the 400 meter hurdles with the first round starting at 5:00 pm on Thursday and the quarterfinals on Friday night at 7:15 pm. Williams has the eighth fastest time in the region, and 21
st nationally, after qualifying in 50.77 at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. He has won three races this year at Liberty, MEAC Outdoor and the IC4A. Davis made his qualifying time at the Duke Invitational when he ran 52.05 to take fourth.
The 110 hurdles will have
Charles Graham running for the Pirates which will start with the first round on Friday at 5:00 pm and have the quarterfinals at 7:20 pm on Saturday. Graham is ranked 28
th in the region after running a 14.02 in qualifying at the MEAC Championships. He has won his last two races at the MEAC and IC4A Championships.
