SPARTANBURG, SC – Hampton University women's soccer team scored twice in a three minute span in the second half, but it was a little too late as they fell 4-2 to USC-Upstate on Friday night.
The Spartans scored midway through the first half on the first of two Emma Honis' goals and that held until six minutes into the second half before Honis put in her second of the game as the lead grew to 4-0 with eight minutes left.
Hampton responded with a pair of goals in the last five minutes. Â
Michelle Zilberman scored on a penalty kick at the 84:38 mark and
Isobel Finnegan put in her first of the year off a feed from
Ayana Garvin at the 88:02 mark. Â Zilberman's goal tied the single season goals scored record for the third-year program with four.
USC-Upstate outshot Hampton 23-11 in the first ever meeting between the schools.
Hampton (0-4) returns to action on Sunday at 2 pm against Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC.
