HILLSIDE, NJ – Two goals in a nine-minute span early in the first half as the New Jersey Institute of Technology Highlanders defeated Hampton University 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Nicole Baldassini scored on a penalty kick at the 8:14 mark and then assisted on the second goal to Jennifer Callaghan at 17:38 as the hosts jumped out to a 2-0 lead.
Hampton held NJIT in check throughout the remainder of the game until with 19 seconds left Briana Hackos scored a breakaway goal for the final 3-0 margin. NJIT outshot Hampton 21-8 in the game.
The Lady Pirates return home for two games this week starting on Tuesday at 1pm against the University of Mount Olive.
