BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Hampton University men's tennis team earned two main draw victories in the ITA Regionals hosted by Virginia Tech this weekend.
In singles, Davy van Geerke defeated Brice Polander of Richmond 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 before losing his second round match to Oren Vasser of William & Mary 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles, the tandem of van Geerke and
Luke Thompson scored a win over Ryan Navarro and Hanyu Liu of George Washington 8-5 before losing to the third-seeded tandem from Old Dominion 8-3.
Fernando Fernandes won his consolation match over Mark Miltzer of Georgetown 3-6, 6-4, retired.
The men will conclude the fall slate at the Virginia Beach Clay Court Championships October 26-28.
