IN BRIEF: Hampton won the opening set but saw the visiting Buccaneers take the next three to take the Big South matchup on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Hampton used a 7-2 flurry in the opening set to take a 12-8 lead after an error by the guests.  That margin got as close as 19-17 late but a kill by Megann Delgado started a 6-1 run to close out the set for a 25-18 Hampton win.
• After a 25-16 second set win by Charleston Southern, the guests took the wind out of the Pirates sails in the third set holding off three set points and earning a 26-24 win on a Brooke Monnsen kill.
• The final set saw the Buccaneers jump out 14-5 but saw Hampton make one last flurry trimming the deficit to 15-12 on a kill by Isis Black but that was as close as they could get falling in the final set 25-20.

BEHIND THE NUMBERS

• Kyndall Nicholas recorded a career-best 17 kills to lead Hampton and included four blocks.
• Delgado and Lena Washington  each had double-doubles as Delgado had 11 kills and 15 digs, while Washington had 11 kills and 12 digs.
• Lena Reed-Petracek had 34 assists, while Maja Petronijevic hadded 19 digs to lead Hampton in those categories.

SENIOR DAY
The final match of the 2018 season will be Senior Day as Hampton hosts Presbyterian at 2pm inside Holland Hall.
