Jermaine Marrow scored 25 points and dished out seven assists to lead six in double figures as Hampton defeated Regent on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hampton jumped out 9-2 at the 17:09 mark on an Akim Mitchell layup, but the Royals scored eight of the next 11 points trimming the lead to 12-10 on a 3-pointer by Andrew Walston with 15:10 left. Â The Pirates answered with a 21-4 burst for a 43-14 lead with 4:10 left on a Dondre Griffin layup.Â
- The lead in the second half grew to as much as 63 points as 13 players got into the scoring column for Hampton.
BEHIND THE BOXSCORE
- Joining Marrow in double figures were Kalin Fisher (17 pts/5 steals) and Akim Mitchell with 13 points.
- Coming off the bench with season highs were Dondre Griffin with 14 points and four 3-pointers, Stanley with a double-double of 13 points and 10 boards while Eugene Marshall, III added 10 points.
- Hampton hit a season-best 60% from the floor (42-of-70) and was 14-of-25 from 3-point range (56%).
