BOILING SPRINGS, NC – Morgan Crawford was 3-for-5 in two games, while DaSha Hill was 2-for-4 with a run scored as Hampton fell twice in day two of the Gardner-Webb Invitational on Saturday.

Hampton faced Western Kentucky again and dropped a 10-2 matchup which was followed by a 5-2 loss to the host Gardner-Webb Bulldogs.

In the opener with Western Kentucky, the Hilltoppers took a 7-0 lead heading into the top of the fifth when Hampton pushed two runs across.  With one out, Hill walked and went to second on a single by Alana VanDenburg.  Lorena Alvarez followed with a single to left field to plate Hill.  A single for Cassidy Blackwell plated VanDenburg to make the margin 7-2.

Against Gardner-Webb, the Lady Pirates took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as Hill opened with a single and stole second.  An infield single by VanDenburg and Blackwell being hit by a pitch loaded the bases.  A fielders choice forced out Hill at home before a Crawford single and reaching second on an error allowed VanDenburg and Blackwell to score.

Gardner-Webb tied the game in the bottom of the third and won it with a three-run walk-off home run.

Hampton will close the tournament facing Western Kentucky again on Sunday morning.
