NORFOLK, Va. – Â
Alana VanDenburg was 2-for-4 with a RBI and
Morgan Crawford was 2-for-3 as Hampton fell to Norfolk State 5-1 to close out its final Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference series with the Spartans on Sunday.
In the top of the third, Hampton got on the board with one run.Â
DaSha Hill beat out an infield single with a bunt and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Taylor Warrick. VanDenburg then dropped a single just in front of the right fielder to plate Hill for the early lead.
Norfolk State answered with a three-spot in the bottom of the inning as Jaylene Pryor singled in Kylee Lopez and Tuli Iosefa followed with a two-run double. In the bottom of the fifth, the Spartans pushed the lead to 5-1 on a two-run double by Jade Dixon.
Hampton (20-24/9-6) now travels to Blacksburg to take on Virginia Tech on Wednesday at 3pm for a doubleheader.
