PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Hampton University women's cross country team opened its season Saturday at the UMES Invite and came out with three top 20 finishers.
Pollyanna Velasco was the top finisher in 17
th place covering the course in 21:31.50.
Asia Johnson was in 18
th in 21:32.10, while
Zuri Rashad was in 19
th in 21:32.40.
Rounding out Hampton's participants were DeVonya Brown in 28
th (22:28.00),
Shakeria Johnson was in 31
st (22:42.80) and
Gabrielle Chenault was in 53
rd (27:31.40). As a team Hampton finished fourth with 92 points out of eight teams.
Hampton returns to action next weekend at the George Mason Invitational in Fairfax, Va.
