HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hampton held a 7-5 lead early in the first game before USC Upstate ripped off the next four points to lead 9-7 following a kill by Mikenzie Young-Mullins.
- The Lady Pirates responded with the next seven points with a Gabby Calloway ace to lead 14-9.
- Delgado with a kill put Hampton up 18-11 for its largest lead of the opening game.
- USC Upstate took command in the second game closing with a 7-1 run to close out with a 25-17 win.
- In the third game, the Spartans raced out to a 10-4 lead en route to a 25-13 win.
- The final game saw the guests jump out 13-4 but Hampton trimmed it to 22-18 after an attack error.Â
