NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Alexia Phifer captured her first individual title on Saturday as she won the 6k race at the CNU Cross Country Invitational held at Lee Hall.

Phifer covered the course in 24:30.30 to outdistance Abigail Shelly of Eastern Mennonite who was almost 10 seconds behind in 24:40.16.  As a team, the Lady Pirates took third in the event with 62 points.  Eastern Mennonite won the team title with 33 points, while Christopher Newport was second with 49.
