QUICK START SINKS PIRATES AT SAN FRANCISCO

SAN FRANCISCO, Ca. – An early 11-0 deficit proved to be too much to overcome on Tuesday afternoon as Hampton dropped an 89-73 decision to San Francisco.

A Jermaine Marrow jumper at the 15:59 mark put the Pirates on the board first as they trailed 11-2.  The lead grew to as much as 13 points on a Jamaree Bouyea jumper with 12:57 left to give the Dons a 21-8 advantage.

Hampton cut the lead to two on three occasions in the first half, the last being on a Ben Stanley free throw with 1:43 left to trail 42-40.  The Dons scored the last five points of the half with a Bouyea jumper putting the hosts up 47-40 at the half.

A Stanley 3-pointer with 16:43 left put Hampton down 52-49 but that was as close as the Pirates got in the second half.

Stanley was the leading scorer in the game for Hampton with a career-high 24 points and six rebounds, while Marrow had 23 points and seven assists.  Davion Warren had nine points and five rebounds for the Pirates.

Hampton now closes its west coast swing taking on Cal State Bakersfield on Friday night at 10pm EST.
