The Hampton University indoor track and field teams competed in two meets this weekend at South Carolina University and Christopher Newport University.
In the men's weight throw, Nicholas Edwards finished first with a toss of 15.86 meters (52 feet 0.5 inches) that placed him fifth on the Big South Conference list for this season.   Jaelen Williams also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 6.96 meters (22 feet 10 inches) that lands him fifth on the Big South Conference list for this year.

Meet highlights
WOMEN

• In the 60- meter dash, Isis Brooks finished eighth with a 7.82.
• In the 60-meter hurdles, Mallory Pitchford ran an ECAC qualifying 8.56, just off her season best 8.51 at the Keydet Invitational.
• With an ECAC qualifying time of 24.67 Brooks finished 21^st in the 200 meters dash and owns the fastest time in the Big South this year. Sashana Hinds has the third fastest time in the conference this year with a 25.01.
• Zuri Rashad finished 11^th with a 19:11.40 in the 5000 meters.
• Pitchford, Kyle McMillian, Autum Smith holds the top three fastest time in the 60 meters hurdles in the Big South this year.
• Jaelen Leonard, Hinds, Shakeira Johnson, Smith placed seventh in the 4x400 relay with a 3:50.12.
• In the high jump, Sydney Davis placed tenth with a 1.52 meters (4'11.75 inches) leap.
• Jaelen Leonard took fifth with an ECAC 5.70 meters (18' 8.5 inches) jump. With that jump, she lands at number one in the Big South this year.
• Ayana Culhane finished ninth in the weight throw with an ECAC qualifying toss of 16.83-meters (55'2.75).

MEN

• In the 400, Jerrick Powell finished ninth with an ECAC qualifying time 47.73, Jaelen Williams placed 11^th with an ECAC qualifying time 47.81, and Derrick Price finished 24^th with an ECAC qualifying time of 48.88. Powell, Williams, and Price has three of the top four fastest times in the Big South this year.
• Tayvon Burris finished fourth in the 800 with an ECAC 1:51.00. With that time Burris holds the fastest time in the Big South this year.
• In the 60 hurdles, Dylan Beard finished fifth in 8.04 and Charles Graham ran 8.13 to take eighth as both ran ECAC qualifying times.
• The 4x400 relay team of Khalil Gary, Moffat Wanjiru, Douglas Sessoms and Beard ran a 3:20.86 to take ninth.
• Along with Williams' second in the long jump, Jerrick Powell took sixth in 22-3.
• Edwards also took tenth in the shot put with a toss of 50-1.25

WOMEN

• In the 200-meter dash Maya Perkins finished tenth in 27.30.
• Asia Johnson took fourth in the 5000 meters in 20:24.87. 
• Faith McMillian  placed third in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.21. 
• In the high jump, Hampton took three spots as Jailyn Raines and Tamadj Fisher ties for third with a 1.52 meters (4 feet -11.75 inches). Faith McMillian took sixth with 1.47 meters (4 feet – 9.75 inches) jump.

 
MEN

• In the mile, Geoffrey McCullough placed fifth with a 4:34.63.

 
 
 Next up for the teams will be the VMI Winter Relays on Feb. 8-9.
