BOSTON, Mass. – The Hampton University indoor track and field teams finished its indoor campaigns over the weekend participating in the ECAC/IC4A Championships hosted by Boston University. The men took fifth with 43 points, while the women were in 23
rd with 14 points.
On the women's side,
Isis Brooks took second in the 200 meters running 24.20 after running a 24.27 in the prelims. In the 60 hurdles,
Autumn Smith took eighth in 8.80 and Kylie Mcmillan ran 8.99 to finish in ninth. Mcmillan ran an 8.76 in the prelins and Smith ran 8.77 to make the finals.
Ayana Culhane took ninth in the shot put in 45-7.75, while
Corneisha Mitchell was 11
th in the weight throw with a toss of 56-10. In the pentathlon Hampton got five points from
Kaitlin Scott who finished in fourth with 3,486 points.
For the men they came away with two first place finishes as
Dylan Beard won the 60 meter hurdles (7.86), while
Jaelen Williams took the 500 meter crown in 1:01.97.
Moffatt Wanjiru took ninth in the 200 meters in 21.65 after running a 21.62 in the prelims.
Tayvon Burris ran 1:52.41 in the 800 to finish fourth after running 1:50.60 in the prelims. Joining Beard in the 60 hurdle finals were
Charles Graham who took fifth (8.12) and Williams in eighth in 8.24.
The 4x400 relay team of
Derrick Price,
Jerrick Powell, Wanjiru and Williams finished second in 3:11.39 and
Trey Clark took fourth in the heptathlon scoring 4,442 points.
