NINETY-SIX, S.C. – Upon the conclusion of the Big South Conference Men's Golf Championships last week, the 2019 postseason awards were presented and Hampton came away with a pair of honorees.
 
Earning All-Freshman team honors was Everett Whiten, Jr.   A native of  Chesapeake, Whiten leads the team in stroke average at 76.48.  He carded a season low round of 69, three-under-par, at the Savannah State Fall Invitational and had a tournament low total of 220 at the UMES Collegiate Golf Challenge where he finished in third.  At the Big South Conference championships, he finished tied for 33^rd with rounds of 80-71-81 for a 232.
 
Jordan Samuels, from Clarcona, Fla., earned All-Academic honors.  He holds an 82.47 stroke average and shot a season low round of 74 at the UMES Collegiate Golf Challenge.  His tournament low this year was also at UMES with rounds of 74-79-77 for a 230 and a 14^th place finish.
 
The golf team will finish its season at the annual PGA Works Collegiate Championships from May 8-12 in Port St. Lucia, Fla.
