HAMPTON, Va. –

Kial Watts and
Sarah Kollas drove in two runs each in game one as Hampton defeated Gardner-Webb 8-3 as they split a Saturday doubleheader.
In game two, the Runnin' Bulldogs scored four runs in the fifth and five in the seventh to break open a close game for an 11-3 win.
In game one, Hampton put three runs across in the bottom of the third to tie the game. Kollas started the inning with a solo home run to trim the lead to 3-1. After an out, Warrick singled and went to second on a single by
DaSha Hill. An infield groundout moved both runners up one base and they scored as Watts singled up the middle to even the game.
The sixth inning saw Hampton score five times taking advantage of a pair of passed balls and a two-run double by Warrick to take an 8-3 lead.
Warrick was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, while Hill was 2-for-4 with one run scored in game one.Â
Allyson Babinsack went the distance with a season high eight strikeouts and no walks for the win.
Game two saw Hill and
Brianna Anderson go 2-for-3 each as Hampton fell 11-3. The Lady Pirates scored in the second on a RBI double by Kollas, a run in the third on a passed ball and one in the fourth on a RBI single by
Morgan Crawford.
The teams will close out the three-game series on Sunday at 1 pm with a single-game.
