CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Hampton University softball season came to an end on Tuesday with a doubleheader loss at the University of Virginia falling 5-2 and 8-0.
In game one, the Lady Pirates scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning with two outs as
Taylor Warrick and
DaSha Hill singled before pinch-hitter
Kial Watts blooped a single into shallow centerfield allowing Warrick to score. A throw in attempt to get Hill at third sailed over the head of the third baseman allowing Hill to score as Hampton trailed 4-2.
Warrick was 2-for-3 to lead Hampton (23-25) in game one, as
Allie Hotetz took the loss throwing a complete game allowing three earned runs.
In game two, Allyson Frei threw a five-inning no-hitter as the Cavaliers scored five runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth to lock up the 8-0 five-inning victory.
