BATES ADDS ANOTHER POST SEASON AWARD

Ashley Bates continues to earn more awards for her record breaking 2018-2019 junior campaign. On Monday, Bates made BOXTOROW First team All-American list.

In 2005-06, the Big South Introduced a Defensive Player of the Year award and Bates has been the first player to win both Big South Conference Player of the Year as well as Defensive Player of the Year.

As her first season in a new conference comes to an end, Bates set her mark in the Big South Conference this year when she broke the single seasons steals record of 121 and set a new record of 125, which puts her third in the nation on the year.  She finished as the leading scorer in the Big South with 17.4 point per game as well as 4.3 steal per game and finished seventh in field goal percentage.  In Big South games, Bates led the league with 18.2 points per contest -- the only player above 17.0 points per contest, and averaged 4.5 steals against conference opponents.
