PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The volleyball team finished completion at the UMES Henson Hawk Invitational on Saturday by defeating the hosts in five thrilling sets and dropping a four-set match to Rider.
Against UMES, Hampton took the opening set 25-19 before the Hawks got on a run winning 25-17 and 25-15 to take a 2-1 lead. Hampton rebounded with a 25-18 win in the fourth and used a late flurry to pull away in the fifth and deciding set for the 15-7 win.
Gabby Calloway had 17 kills and 13 digs, while
Jessica Pugh had a team best 24 digs.Â
Isis Black added 11 kills and seven blocks to lead Hampton at the net.
In the final match against Rider, Hampton went into the 30s to win the opening set taking a 30-28 decision. The Broncs took charge of the match winning the next three 25-15, 25-9, 25-18. Calloway paced Hampton with nine kills and 11 digs while
Isis Black added seven kills.
