LEXINGTON, Va. – The Hampton men's indoor track and field team took part in the VMI Keydet Invitational this past weekend at the VMI Corps Physical Training Facility and set several season bests.
Brenan Garrett took third in the 200 meters (22.00) and fourth in the 60 meters (6.95), while Moffatt Wanjiru was third in the 400 meters in 49.85.
Hampton went 1-2-5 in the 500 as
Jaelen Williams won the event in 1:04.4,
Josiah Hill was second in 1:04.66 and
Noah Langford was fifth in 1:05.74.Â
Jeremiah Hill was ninth in the 1000 meters in 2:35.19.
The 60 meter hurdles saw
Dylan Beard take second in 7.97, while Olakunie Akande was eighth in 8.62. Both ran faster in the semis with Beard clocking a 7.83 and Akande an 8.33.
In the 4x400 relay, Hampton went 1-5 as the group of
Noah Langford, Wanjiru, Williams and
Josiah Hill won the race in 3:16.97. In fifth was the group of
Keyonte Midgett,
Joshua Hagins,
Jeremiah Hill and
Khalil Gary in 3:23.2.
In the weight events,
Nicholas Edwards was ninth in the shot put (49-9.25) and weight toss (53-6.5).
Hampton is back in action next weekend at Liberty University.
