LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Hampton University indoor track and field teams competed this weekend in the Liberty Kickoff and came away with 16 top five finishes.
On the women's team,
Mallory Pitchford came away with a pair of second place finishes in the 60 meters (7.60) and in the 60 hurdles (8.57). ADetoun Oluwole took the only first for the Lady Pirates winning the 60 hurdles in 8.50 and she took third in the triple jump with a leap of 40-1/2.
Shakeria Johnson took fourth in the 1000 (3:06.80), while Dejah Grant was fourth in the 500 meters in 1:18.29.
Ayana Culhane took second in the shot put (46-11.75) and ninth in the weight throw (54-4).
On the men's side,
Otis Slayton took first in the long jump with a leap of 24-1.5. The 4x800 relay team of
Khalil Gary,
Jeremiah Hill,
Geoffrey McCullough and Jordan Ross took second in 7:49.80, while
Khalil Gary was second in the 500 meters 1:04.61 and Hill was third in 1:04.95.
Joshua Hunter was second in the weight toss in 57-9.5, while
Keyonte Midgett was third in the triple jump with a leap of 49-6.5.
Hampton will participate in a pair of meets this coming weekend at Penn State and the University of South Carolina.
