BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Hampton men's indoor track and field team took third place this weekend at the Big South Conference Championships inside the Rector Field House at Virginia Tech.
High Point won the meet with 178 points, followed by Campbell (121) and Hampton (108).
Hampton earned two points in the high jump with
Keyonte Midgett and Jaelan Williams tied for seventh with a leap of 6'0.
Dylan Beard won the 60 hurdles as Hampton scored 20 points with his winning time of 7.86. Brandon Turner took third in 8.17 and
Noah Langford was fifth in 8.23 for the Pirates.
Langford took sixth in the 400 meters in 49.60, while
Josiah Hill was seventh in 52.25 to give Hampton five more points.
Joshua Hunter earned four points for Hampton in the weight throw after a toss of 55'10.5.
Midgett earned three points in the triple jump with his leap of 46'8, while
Otis Slayton took seventh for two points with a leap of 45'8. Hampton went 4-5 in the 60 meters for nine points as
Dylan Beard ran 6.90 and Brenan Garrett ran 6.91.
Geoffrey McCullough was second in the 800 meters in 1:53.59, while
Jeremiah Hill was fifth in 1:55.90 for a total of 12 points. The Pirates earned 10 points in the 200 as Garrett was third in 2.02,
Deondre Little was sixth in 22.23 and
Moffat Wanjiru was eighth in 22.41.
Hampton's 4x400 relay grouping of Langford,
Khalil Gary, Garrett and
Josiah Hill took second in 3:17.16. In the heptathlon, Hampton went 4-5-6-8 as
Jordan Walker was fourth (4,574 points), Midgett was fifth (4,253),
Isaiah Norris was sixth (4,214) and
Olakunle Akande was eighth (4,039).
