JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
Andre Myers scored off a feed by
Pierce Johnson to start the second quarter for Hampton's goal in an 18-1 loss to Jacksonville on Friday night.
The Dolphins scored three in the first period before Johnson connected with Myers to put Hampton on the board at the 13:40 mark of the second quarter. Jacksonville scored two in the span of 14 seconds to start them on a run of the last six of the half for a 9-1 halftime lead.
Hampton clamped down the defense in the third quarter holding the Dolphins to a pair of goals in the last 4:49, but Jacksonville connected with seven goals in the final quarter.
Johnson had five shots for Hampton, while
Lonnie Jones and
Derian Williams-Sturdivant had four apiece.
Pearson Benson topped Hampton with three caused turnovers, while
Ian Groom had five ground balls and was 10-for-19 in the faceoff circle.
Hampton closes its six-game road swing on Wednesday with a 2pm match at Greensboro College.
