COPELAND, PEREZ EARN BIG SOUTH PLAYER OF WEEK HONORS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Big South Conference announced its Football Players of the Week on Monday afternoon as freshman wide receiver Romon Copeland and junior kicker Axel Perez took Freshman and Special Teams Player of the Week honors respectively.

Perez made 3-of-3 field goals and finished with 12 points in Hampton's 30-9 victory over North Carolina A&T.  With the Pirates trailing 9-7 in the second quarter, he made a 31-yarder to put Hampton ahead 10-9, and then added a career-long 43-yard field goal into the wind that give the Pirates a 13-9 halftime lead.  Perez closed out the game's scoring with a 42-yard field goal at 11:15 in the fourth quarter.  He made all three PAT attempts and punted twice for a 34.5-yard average.

Copeland caught three passes for a career-high 112 yards and a touchdown in Hampton's 30-9 win over North Carolina A&T.  With the Pirates leading 13-9, Copeland scored on a career-long 72-yard reception midway through the third quarter to break the game open.  He caught two additional passes for first downs -- including a 29-yarder that was part of Hampton's final scoring drive of the first half.

Hampton (3-4, 1-2) returns to action on Saturday at Robert Morris for a noon kickoff.
