Villanova (5-3, 3-2) scored 18 seconds into the contest on a 75-yard run by quarterback Connor Watkins and went on to post a 24-10 win over Hampton (4-4, 1-4) before 4,097 fans at Villanova Stadium.

The Pirates scored on a 30-yard field goal by Axel Perez midway through the second quarter before Matthew Mercurio capped a nine-play, 66-yard drive with a 26-yard field goal of his own with 3:35 left in the first half to boost Villanova's lead to 10-3 at the half.

Villanova added a touchdown by on an 11-yard pass from Watkins to Jaaron Hayek midway through the third quarter. Hampton responded when Malcolm Mays hooked up with Trent Cloud on a 23-yard scoring strike to make the score 17-10 after three quarters.

Watkins scooted 30-yards for the game's final score with 10:42 left in the contest to hand the Pirates the loss.
